Cancer Education Hub

The Cancer Education Hub at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust delivers education and training for the cancer workforce, wider healthcare professionals, and colleagues working across the voluntary, community, social enterprise and charitable sectors. Working with the Peninsula Cancer Academy and other partners, we provide short courses, study days, communication skills training, academic modules, and workforce development opportunities through face-to-face and online learning. Our educational opportunities are accessed by individuals and organisations locally, regionally, and nationally, supporting those working across health, care, community, and voluntary sector settings.

Meet the Team  

Our team combines a diverse array of skills and knowledge in cancer care, education, research, and communication. We draw from a vast range of professions across the region including Nurses, AHPs and Doctors.

Andy Garner, Oncology Education Lead   

 BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), PGCE,  PgDip Advanced Healthcare Practice (Clinical)  

The Cancer Education Hub is led by Andy Garner, a registered Therapeutic Radiographer with a diverse background across oncology. Andy brings a strong passion for education and training, shaped by his earlier career as a Secondary School Teacher. He leads the development and delivery of oncology education, with a particular interest in active learning and interactive teaching approaches that engage and empower learners.

Kerry provides administrative support for the Cancer Education Hub, coordinating educational activities and assisting learners and staff with course information, resources, and enquiries. Highly organised, proactive, and friendly, she plays a key role in ensuring the Hub runs smoothly and remains a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
